Welcome...

Hi there, and welcome to my blog. If you're interested in reading views on politics, you've come to the right place. I'm sure I'll say things that some of you will agree with and others will think I'm talking utter nonsense... 

But there is one thing that I ask you to keep in mind as you read on. Politics is not black or white. None of the issues that I discuss on this page have a right or wrong answer. There is never only one way to do something, sometimes there are multiple ways, and it is our politicians, who we put our faith in, who have to make the best decisions for us, the people, and the country. 

As I've got older, I've realised how complicated things actually are and the pandemic has only enlightened this further. There is more division now in the world of politics than there has ever been and COVID-19 has brought a lot of this to light. If we look at America, there's never been a stronger divide between Republican and Democrat voters. In the UK, we're starting to see similar stances between the Conservative and Labour party. Even in Ireland, political parties have turned more on each other in the last year than in the previous 10 years combined. 

I do wonder sometimes if the divisions were always there but social media has given people a platform to share their views. Were people always this passionate about what they stand for politically? It's hard to tell but if you spend any time on Twitter or Facebook at look at the comments under a political story, there are clearly very conflicting views on several issues, regardless of what country you are in.
